An endowment is a permanent, named fund at UTEP in which the principal is invested and only a percentage of the earned income is distributed each year. For more information on starting an endowment, please contact the Audrey Price at (915) 747-8533 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Student Scholarship Support
Endowed scholarships provide students with funding for tuition, fees, and other costs related to academics. An endowed scholarship can be established for a minimum of $25,000, which creates a partial scholarship. Scholarship may be designated to a specific department or program, or be tied to a consideration of financial need.

Chairs and Professorships
Endowed Chairs and Professorships are critical to recruit the best and brightest faculty. The Chairs and Professorships will enable the university to compete with other institutions in attracting the top names in certain fields by providing competitive salaries, research dollars, and teaching opportunities. The faculty endowments designated for a faculty position allow distributions to be made available each year to the individual who holds the endowed position. He or she may choose to take this stipend as a salary supplement or to use the earnings for other purposes related to his or her work, such as support for research, travel to professional meetings, or the purchase of specialized books or equipment.
The University has the following levels of endowed faculty positions:
- Professorships - $100,000
- Distinguished Professorships - $250,000
- Chairs - $500,000
- Distinguished Chair - $1,000,000
- Distinguished University Chair - $2,000,000
